Merry Christmas  Warren
Congratulations on your generous donation to Bill and Melinda's foundation. I was hoping that, if you had a couple of pennies left over, you might be interested in checking out our project. It is not, strictly speaking a "not for profit" venture - although, up until this point in time, it has certainly been "non profitable". Despite this track record, we are, none the less, projecting very handsome returns for our investors. On the other hand, our project is also expected to provide many environmental and social benefits- as described on our web site: Spirit of the Bahamas.

I must say, I have never quite understood this penchant towards strictly separating "for profit" and "not for profit" organizations. I guess it is just part of the general penchant for separating everything with names, classifications, fences, walls, barriers rules and regulations etc. etc. It seems to me that, while this practice is a useful tool for understanding and dealing with our universe, it has a negative effect when carried to extremes. As any guru, worth his salt, will tell you: "True wisdom lies in seeing the universe without these contrived separations".

I believe that, in your business dealings, you have tended towards blurring these boundaries and have given some consideration to "not strictly for profit" factors. It does seem rather silly to be entirely selfish, profit oriented, and even unscrupulous, in ones business dealings, and then turn around and give all those profits away in an entirely selfless and scrupulous manner.

It also seems somewhat self defeating, if one is championing the democratic capitalist system against totalitarian socialist systems, not to do everything in one's power to widen the capitalist segment of society. Admittedly,  there have recently been some efforts to extend credit further down the economic scale. However, from the perspective of someone, who has been trying , very unsuccessfully, for fifty odd years, to fund a very small start up project, the propensity of investors for big established projects is markedly apparent.

It is all very well to teach a man to fish rather than giving him a fish. However he is probably going to need some capital to buy a fishing net or at least a couple of fish hooks.
From my perspective, the reluctance of successfull capitalists (who would cheerfully give away tons of fish) to provide a bit of capital for the purchase of few fish hooks (no matter the perceived increased risk) is truly astonishing.  It seems to me that those, profiting from democratic capitalism, only have themselves to blame when their small inbred clans are overwhelmed by totalitarian socialist movements.

Somewhat in the same vein, there is one particular aspect of our project that, might perhaps strike a chord with you. The next boat we plan to construct is a 130 ft. "Catamaran mega yacht". This description, no doubt, has connotations of a vessel aimed at satisfying the whims of "The Donalds" of this world. Clearly, virtually all current pleasure vessels of this size are, in fact, targeted at this market.

With all due respect to Donald, Our prototype is not, in any form or fashion, aimed at providing the ridiculous levels of luxury that seem to be required - to appease the insatiable egos of the owners and guests aboard such mega yachts. We will not be providing enormous fuel guzzling engines (see Spirit of the Bahamas - Wake up and smell the oil) nor marble baths, nor gold plated bathroom fixtures.

We will however be providing a decent degree of comfort. An inescapable rule of boat design, which we have found to be true, is that in order to provide a halfway decent level of comfort, in open water conditions, one requires  a vessel of a certain size. With our designs, 130 ft seems about right and, with this size to work with, we can also provide a very comfortable level of accommodation.

I have no idea whether you are into boats or not, but I believe that many, many individuals, such as yourself, will find that our carefully planned and executed package will provide them with the time of their lives - along with the comfort provided by a clear conscience. We hope we might have the pleasure of your company sometime.
