Immediate Plans
If and when (not a minute sooner - nor a minute later) it appears certain that our modified strategy for achieving the requirements spelled out on the web page 100 best jobs in the world will be successful, we will IMMEDIATELY start implementing the following plans - utilizing the cash reserves we currently have on hand:
1) Secure rental accommodations (very close to our base camp) for anywhere from 2-4 Primary Associates.
2) Secure another vehicle - preferably an extended cab pickup - with serious roof rack for water toys.
3) Make arrangement with anywhere from 2-4 Primary Associates to join us here as soon as possible for a minimum period of 2 - 3 months. For this particular employment stint we will require Associates with (at a minimum) rudimentary Spanish speaking skills and (at a minimum) rudimentary construction and repair skills (preferably both boat related and house related) - in addition to the usual rudimentary computer skills - which we would expect from all Associates.
Those selected will be required to share the lead with us in:
> Upgrading our base camp facilities.
> Completing the fitting out and commissioning of Grand Illusion.
> Upgrading our Internet presence.
Naturally, for this stint there will be no profits to share. Consequently, financial remuneration will be strictly in the form of salaries - unless we can come up with some other form of incentive in the meantime. This is definitely going to be a working stint and, quite often, not very pleasant work. On the plus side, those who choose to share the drudgery with us, will definitely be in our "good books" - when it comes time to allocate more pleasant employment stints.
Because of the nature of the "beach" directly in front of our base camp (very steep and composed of tennis ball size smooth rounded stones (and also because of security concerns)
It will be some time towards the end of this period, before we have the beach front facilities operational. - with dock, small boats etc.
This being the case, avid windsurfers or kiteboarders might be a good fit for this stint. They would certainly find some time to indulge in their passion - whether right here, close by at Restinga (where they will find miles and miles of virtually deserted beaches with strong sideshore winds and usually moderate surf) or, if they care for some company, a 20 minute drive away at at El Yaque.
The author has limited experience in Wind surfing and none at all in Kiteboarding.
However, In his (admittedly unprofessional) judgement, Restinga should prove a wonderful windsurfing location - better than Yaque perhaps - Yaque has no surf. In regard to equipment, due to the aforementioned lack of experience and hefty import duties, the best plan is probably for us to purchase second hand gear from Yaque, with the assistance and advice of our more knowledgeable Associates.
We are about a month away from having some decent images and video on this web site.
However, if we are successful in generating some serious interest, without the help of these promotional aids, it is entirely possible that we might be ready to implement our immediate plans within the next month or so - or around the end of November 2009.
Of course this will be getting close to the Christmas Season which may make it more difficult to entice Associates away from home and hearth. At any rate, it may be more realistic to assume that we will need to upgrade our current, very crude, virtual images, before we can expect to start generating any serious interest. If this turns out to be the case, we could then presumably expect to be able to start work in early January.
This, in turn, would necessitate, postponing our first cruise to probably sometime around early April. Whichever the case might be, all applicant should indicate whether or not they have the qualifications and the inclination to request consideration for this initial employment stint.
