I am sorry I won't be sharing Sara's extravegant Christmas  dinner with you this year. That meal usually goes a long way towards helping me to survive in the gastronomical wasteland I have been confined to for these last few years.

I hope this Christmas will  herald the arrival of the long awaited  "Angel Investors"  we have been looking out for. I know you don't approve of the general tone of my efforts to encourage the visit of these "Wise men from from the east" - or north or wherever.

The simple facts are, however , as follows: In fifty odd years of effort, I have not come across one single person who has said to me - "I have given some consideration to your project and I have decided not to invest in it - for this or that reason". The only response I have ever received to my efforts at finding investors is a deafening silence. Consequently, I can only guess at the reasons for the unanimous rejection of my proposals.

My best guess is that the  reasoning goes  roughly as follows: "Robby New has been working on  some crazy boat project forever and has been totally unsuccessful. Therefore, Robby New  is clearly a stupid, misguided,  possibly insane loser and, therefore, any project,  which he is involved in, is obviously doomed to failure. Naturally, as the years go by, this judgement is reinforced and proved to be more and more "rational".

My guess is that any attempt I make to present a rational case for our project is quickly dismised with the all saw: "If you are so damn smart - why aren't you rich?" We are never going to convince anyone, from this camp, to actually read, consider, and make a judgement  - based on the merits of our proposal. It is as futile as trying to persuade a fanatical Christian to consider the merits of a peace proposal offered by a fanatical Muslim - or visa versa.

We have no alternative but to focus our efforts on trying to find "Three wise men" - or one with lots of gold and myrrh - or onr hundred with a little, who are prepared to consider our proposal, on purely rational grounds. If, in this process, we further antagonize my many zealously committed detractors - so be it.

So stop worrying about people's reactions and "making waves" . We need to make  waves to attract the attention of "Angel Investors" - who, seeing that we are drowning, will swoop down to our rescue. Just keep trying to spread the word .  Somewhere out there, there are a handful of wise men, who are:
